Bottom fermented lagers hit the late-medieval brewing scene in the early 15th century. Their crisp clean flavors added a new dimension to the world of beer. As European emigrants began brewing in the United States, they brought those old-world techniques that soon birthed the American Lager style. Fields & Ivy’s lager is made with European barley malt, European hops and Silvermine heirloom corn. Silvermine¬¬, a white dent corn variety, was developed in the 1880s, then refined by Mr. Ernest Young of Lawrence, Kansas in 1907. Our lager is crisp, clear, and effervescent.
